Easy like Sunday mornin'.....

I love Sundays. Each one is a mix of ease and relaxation with the anticipation for the week to come. The light from the sun feels warmer and I can feel the slowness in the air. Mmmm, Sunday.

But it doesn't stay slow for long. First, we start out with a real, honest, breakfast....

Which is quickly followed by laundry, cleaning, list making, playing, etc. But there are some of us who find time to do absolutely nothing at all...

At least he delayed mauling me until after I got the shot.

My biggest plan for today? To prepare for work. This week is the first week where I have my own territory. And I expect to kill it! Well, not literally. I mean it in a cool, avant garde sort of way. I am nervous, and excited, and scared. But mostly excited.

So off I go to try on work clothes, crochet, make dinner for the girl, and wait for days end.

Hope you had a slow/happy Sunday too.

Welcome 2010!!

Although I am typically one for New Year Resolutions, I feel that this year there are a few changes that need to happen. They are as follows:

1. Blog/Write more

2. Let go- I will not be so hung up on perfection and then disappointed with myself for not attaining it. Nor will I be so afraid of actually being happy that I sabatoge myself. I will let go.

3. I will get out of debt- Enough said.

4. I will take more pictures. And I will take a photography class.

5. I will read one one book per month.

6. Travel to at least 1 place I've never been. And take the girl with me. And the Man. :)

7. I will practice yoga each day.

8. I will always do my best to eat real food.

9. I will grow a garden.

10. I will craft at least one item each month.

2010 will bring more of.....

You know what, 2010? I have a good feelin' about you.

Family

Hot diggity!

We have visitors today! One of them is this fabulous lady.......

This is Emma, she is my grandmother, she is 76 years old, and she rocks. Hard. She makes killer chicken with dumplings, is scary smart, and will easily knock anyone out with hands as strong as vice grips. She knows all about antiques, home cooking, and is like a walking calculator. Who I am today, well the best bits anyway, I attribute largely to her. And her vice grip hands.

Bells fancies her a bit too, no? :)

"I'm happy that I am home...."

Day one of this blog and I sit at my laptop looking for something profound to say, when Bella says to me "I'm happy that I am home". She says this every day. Many times I reply absentmindedly that I too am happy to be home. But today, I stopped to think about what she was saying and the weight that her statement carried. Frankly, not everyone has a home to return to. Or , they do have a home but dread having to come back to it when the day ends. Me? Well my dears, I belonged to that latter group for many years. My stomach would clench when I'd pull into the driveway, knowing that the only goodness inside that house was the girl. But now, now.... coming home is peaceful. It is a haven. It is where although many days have their share of frustration and crankiness, even more have joy, and laughing, and dancing. We are blessed, to say the least, because we have each other. Let's breathe a collective sigh of relief for the girl and I, shall we? Ahhhhhh.....

Such words were not uttered to me before by Bella. She didn't say this years ago. She didn't even say it 6 months ago. But she says it now. Everyday. And I couldn't be happier. :)

You know what, Bells? I'm happy that we're home too, baby. :)
